Then post it and then go on over to Angela’s place to link up via Mr. Linky.
Here are some of the five most wonderful words in the English language — according to me at this moment in time. I chose some for solely for their sound and others for their meaning.
glissando
Isn’t this a pretty sounding word and a pretty looking word? I love the double ss. The meaning is also pretty. It is a musical term meaning
This is a happy little bouncy word with lots of syllables — almost illustrating its meaning, which is “a large group or chain of islands.”
eloquent
There is something about this word that is just pleasing to me; I think it is the q sound in it. When you say the word out loud, it almost becomes its meaning, which is “having or exercising the power of fluent, forceful, and appropriate speech.” Not something we have much of here on this blog!
armadillo
Isn’t this a wonderful word for a funny little animal? The “dillo” part is what does it for me. I saw some great photos of an armadillo recently on Lisa’s Chaos — they are so cute but weird-looking at the same time. nap
Chosen for its meaning. I’m the older mother of an active 4-year-old boy — ’nuff said.
So what words are wonderful to you!
And now for a Spotlight on a Regular Reader…
Jill over at Sneaky Momma has a new blog devoted solely to blogging tips! I’ve checked it out and it is wonderful. If you like playing with the look of your blog as much as I do, I highly recommend it. Her tutorials are easy to understand and follow (lots of illustrations) and she has them divided by skill level — beginner, intermediate and advanced. I’ve used a few of her tutorials and have had no problems. So check it out — I’m sure you’ll find something of interest no matter what your skill level.

Oh – I do love your words! One of my favourite words is: serendipity.
And the thanks for the link to Sneaky Momma…
Nap is a great word. And when you’re hungry, you just reverse it and get pan!
Shiraz, Cabernet, Malbec, Merlot, Pinot Noir.
Oh, is that five or six? Never mind.
I think nap is a fabulous word. Easy to spell, easy to do.
oh and I can’t wait to check out Sneaky Momma’s site – yay for that!
Nap! That is most definitely a good one.
Vexing – love that word, love to use it whenever I can.
Zenitram – which is actually Martinez backwards, not sure why I like it but I do. I say it in my head alot. I read words backwards all the time, just because I’m weird that way.
Cattywompus – great fun word to use. (of course I’m sure its spelled incorrectly)
I can’t think of any others but we’re a wordy bunch in my house, my 6 yr old son correctly used the word “Distraut” during a session with the school psychologist (not individual but the whole class was having the session), and he asked Do you know what that means? – to which my son replied – Upset. We learned about that during conferences yesterday.
I am a big fan of that nap word.
I like words with the letter Q since it is rare and pretty! NAP ~ great idea and wonderful meaning!! I think archipelago should mean something else so I can actually use it! Have a great weekend and thanks again for participating!
I wonder what word Tattooed Mini Van mom would pick. Hmmm???
I enjoy discombobulated. VERY much.
I love “nap”…and “doily”.
And “child-free vacation”. Oops…that’s three all together. Can that count?
Nap is my favorite word right now…so is massage, spa, pedicure…(what? you didn’t include any naughty words, Jenners????? I’m surprised by you…lol!)
I love the word glissando! I love that it means pretty. I can ask my husband, “Don’t I look glissando today?” And I’m sure his response will be, “Is that a trick question?”
It also makes a great name for a fictional character…Gina Glissando.
You forgot some of the other great words that are joined at the hip with some of your words. For example:
Barbecue + Hammock = Nap
(You’d never guess I think in equations, huh?)
I like the fact that the sound of the word SALSA makes me hungry. I think it is funny that the word LITTLE is twice as long as BIG. I think is ironic that smart has the word art in it and funeral has the word fun in it. I wrote a story about an armadillo…maybe I’ll post it
Hmmmm…….I have a favorite swear word I could share.
I love the word ‘archipelago’, and totally don’t get enough opportunities to use it in daily life.
“Honey, hand me the archipelago.”
Yeah, totally going with ‘nap’. Totally.
Archipelago…..such a great group of syllables. Feels good to say, too.
Thank you so much for featuring my blog. I really appreciate it. You’re such a great blogging buddy!
I’ve got some really cool stuff I’m going to share soon, if only I can find the time to get them written!
Language is so interesting that way. I wonder who chose words like that. Whoever it was was a genius I think.
I’ll check out that link for blog designs -I’ve been trying to figure out how to get the html for my buttons on my blog. Anyway, thanks!
I love it. I come here to visit for fun AND I get to broaden my vocabulary!
Although, “nap” has seemingly escaped our vocabulary in our house. Boo!
Off to check out Sneaky Momma’s new place!
Nap is definitely one of my favorites… I’d love one right now. Even if it is only 10 a.m.
And glissando is a new one for me… thanks for expanding my vocabulary!!
onamonapia
I like that word lol
I have to say that yes those are pretty words but my favorite would have to be Nap. I just love nap!!!!
Excellent choices – armadillo was my favorite! You can’t help but laugh when you see one! Happy Friday!
oooooooh! You’ve chosen such pretty words… well 4 out of 5 are pretty. Nap is pretty perfunctory sounding, but oh-so necessary.
How about the ever fun onomatopoeia, or whippoorwill, or serendipitous? Or palisade, which sounds nice, but isn’t in fact. Or chanson… utterly musical
I really liked glissando. That’s a new one to me! See how much I learn when I come to visit your blog!! I miss those “nap” days with my kids!
I like the word paprikash. I don’t know if I’ve spelled it write, but I like it. I’ll have to check out that blog with the tips. Thanks!
now that you mention it, all those music words are pretty looking and sounding.
i like the word eloquent, too.
and please, who doesn’t LOVE the word NAP! those who TAKE them (me!) and those whose KIDS take them!
