So I wasn’t going to do a post today because I didn’t really have any ideas, but then my lovely husband provided me with material. He is working from home today (always a joy, I type sarcastically) and was preparing toast for breakfast. I mean, he was going to prepare toast for breakfast until he couldn’t find the bread. Our conversation:

Him: “Where is the bread? There is none in here.”
Me: “Are you sure? I just made the Little One’s sandwich with it.”
Him: “I’m sure. I looked everywhere.”
Me: “Did you really look? I know it is in there.”
Him (emphatically): “I looked everywhere. It is not in the closet.”

At this point, I questioned myself. Did I put it in the freezer by accident (as I am sometimes known to do while daydreaming)? My husband is the type who is ALWAYS right so I came running to look for the missing bread. Here is the closet where the bread is kept. Can you find the missing bread? I found it in less than 2 seconds.

If you need some help, here is a clue.

To his credit, my husband was sheepish and a bit embarrassed.

Me: “You know that your punishment is that I have to post this on my blog.
    Him: “Yeah….I know.”

Note To Self: Why is everything slanted to the right in the closet? Also, the closet is a bit of a mess. Perhaps someone should do something about it. Oh, housecleaning elves, come here! I need you!

Thanks to my husband, I can now participate in Angie’s wonderful Wordful Wednesday!

How did I miss this the first time around? Good thing I read the questions to your husband…finally…so I could see this. Yeah He must not have had his glasses on or something.

LOL my husband does this all the time. Although I will admit that it took me a few seconds. I wish I had that much food in my cupboards right now!

Maybe your house tipped while you were out? :)

      How funny. Men!
I saw in your profile that you have ‘negligent housekeeper’ as one of your occupations. I love it!

what is it with men and never being able to find stuff. my husband has passed the gene on to my boys. the girl and i are the only ones who can do things on our own in the house!

thanks for your kind words on my prayer post. it’s not always easy posting unpopular opinions. i appreciate your support!!

      have a thursday!

First of all, your closet does not look that bad….ok, maybe a little, but secondly, I did find the bread rather quickly. I think men just take a quick glance, don’t see what they want, and need us to find it for them. At least that’s the way it is at my house!

haha LOL! My husband the same! It’s right in front of him and he still asks, “where did you place it, Bee?”. HUH! I guess they have a different vision when it comes to looking for things.

      go figure. :-)
that said, one day I put the cereal in the refrigerator and the milk in the pantry.
      I don’t recommend that… :-)

and hey! I’ll post the answers to the photo riddles next!

      Blessings!

That looks a lot like my pantry…except I keep my bread on the counter next to the fridge. That way no one can not find it.

Men can never find anything. And sadly, they start so young… as my 11 year old is clearly proof. They never move anything to actually LOOK. I believe it is in their DNA.

I’m just glad I’m not the only one who accidently puts stuff in the freezer! Back in my cereal-eating days, I oftentimes put the milk in the pantry and the cereal in the refergerator, too (which my mom loved oh so much). OH! And then there was the time (not so long ago, in fact) when I accidentally poured catfood into the washing machine, thinking it was laundry detergent (the two items are right next to each other in the laundry closet). Sigh. At least I’m consistent in my scatter-brain-ed-ness, yes?

Oh so,so funny! I laughed and laughed. It took me about 2.5 seconds to find the bread!
And I actually noticed that everything was slanted to the right before you said anything and thought, is her pantry at an angle?
I laughed when you mentioned it too.

My husband played this same game last night with salad dressing in the fridge. I kept saying, “bottom shelf on the left”. Took him five minutes to find it. Guess where it was? You got it.

They really don’t even look. I’m convinced of it. And New Jersey is slanted to the right. Where have you been?

OMG! It looks like my closet!! Right down to the food and the shelves. Are you sure there isn’t an extra set of Narnia doors at the back. ‘Fess up!

I swear this happens in our house every single day! I am always called upon to find ‘misplaced’ things, whether that person misplaced the item or they just can’t find it. Somehow I find the item in about 2 seconds just like I saw your bread there. :)

I found the bread right away. You obviously always put the bread near the peanut butter. Why didn’t I think of that?

      03/25/2009 at 9:06 pm

hee hee hee! I’ve often put my cereal in the fridge and the milk in the pantry before. And you’re right–your shelves do look slanted. I thought it was just the weight of all the food :) .

Very fun–and hubby is a good sport to play along!

I could possibly post something almost identical to this about my own husband. The moment he goes looking for something he’s saying “Honey?” Even if the thing he is looking for is always found in the same place every time. *rolling eyes*

    25. monstergirlee
      03/25/2009 at 7:33 pm

Well its right there next to the peanut butter – duh. LOL! That happens at my house too. Not with the bread tho because we have an actual Bread Box, where the bread goes.
Is it a guy thing? Not sure.

Haha!! This is like a weekly conversation between myself and my husband. “Honey, it’s not here.” “Yes, it is.” “I’m looking. I looked everywhere, it’s NOT HERE.” …. I get up and go pick it up immediately. GEEZ MEN!!! :-)

I put the bread in a bread-bin marked in huge letters ‘B.R.E.A.D.’ He still can’t find it!

And the worst thing of all is he lets me go to an important meeting with a smear of jam on my cheek. (I only discovered it when I went to the loo during a coffee-break!) Surely, if you turn to kiss someone goodbye and they have a big orangey-red sticky smear on their face you can SEE it?

Your closet looks like mine. You should see if after three hungry boys tear into it! My husband has those “Where did you put it?” moments. I have to hide if I misplace the keys. That makes him crazy. He’s a bit of a security freak. And don’t even think about losing the remote!! Send some housekeeping elves over to me when you’re done :)

      03/25/2009 at 2:27 pm

You could have taken this scenario straight from my own house. It’s a weekly occurrence here.

That being said, and to your husband’s defense. I HATE when Pat puts stuff away and I can never find it. They must feel lost in our kitchens. Ever try looking for a screwdriver in the garage?? Mmmhmmm. Not gonna happen…just GET it for me!!!

That being said…I saw the bread right away. Because that’s exactly where I would have put it. And our pantries are. identical.

please… this is a daily occurrence in my house. and my two boys have the same genetic defect.

it would be kind of cool to have some sort of pantry-psycho-therapist analyze our food storage habits. we could probably learn a lot about ourselves (other than the fact that we are just sloppy pigs).
