Let’s Just Skip Monday This Week
by Jenners • 04/06/2009 • My Take On... • 45 Comments

So, I know it is Monday but I wanted to do this Random Tuesday Thoughts over at The Un Mom. BUT I also want to do Tuesday Tribute tomorrow (you know, on the real Tuesday). And since Mondays pretty much suck anyway, I’ve decided I’m just going to skip Monday this week and have two Tuesdays. I will then proceed in an orderly fashion to Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. (Actually, to make this even more confusing, I’m going to go ahead and post this on Sunday night since Mondays I am always consumed with the Little One as he doesn’t go to school! Worst day of the week for me! On the up side, it is nap day.)
- We were driving by the industrial part of town the other day and passed a factory belching white smoke into the air. The Little One said “Is that where they make clouds, Mommy?” If only that were true, Little One. If only that were true.
-
I always used to say “Two of one, half dozen of the other” until my husband pointed out that this doesn’t make sense.
- If a blogger posts a post and no one comments on it, does it exist?
- The best thing about Easter are marshmallow Peeps. I like to put them in the freezer before eating them.
-
I had a whole bunch of funny random thoughts last night at 3:00 a.m. when I couldn’t sleep but I seem to have forgotten them.

I always used to say “Six of one half, dozen of the other.” Which is closer, but still not quite right. I figured it out on my own, though.
Good for you for making your own rules with the days of the week. Also, thanks for the summary/translation, you saved me some reading. No, it doesn’t exist if nobody comments. Actually, that’s not true but aren’t we in it for the comments, really?
Peeps in the freezer? I am SOO making Joseph come with me to get some as soon as he wakes up.
Sounds delicious.
And I love the cloud factory idea- so sweet!
Ooooh! Peeps…I can’t believe I haven’t bought any yet… Why do you put them in the freezer? Curious minds want to know…
Cloud factory – LOVE it! And you had me cracking up with the passage comparisons…too funny!!
Happy RTT!
Love the idea to skip Mondays. I think I could convince my family that’s a good idea
If a blogger posts…that one will have me up all night now.
I can’t get into Jane Eyre, I don’t now why or what it is because the language doesn’t bother me. It’s like Pride and Prejudice. I can’t even say how many times I’ve tried reading that one!
Thanks for stopping by!
My husband’s parents used to say the cloud factory thing to him as a kid, when they passed a factory, they’d say, “what is THAT?” And they’d say, “That’s a cloud factory!” (:
You are a funny lady! I love the way children think! I love cloud factories! I always fear what is being put into the air we breathe by places like that even though hubs assures me that the ones I point out are only letting out water.
posting RTT on a monday, but actually on a sunday is totally random. i like it.
peeps are my favorite thing about easter, too. and peeps are best when you cut the plastic open and let them sit for a few weeks. then they’re nice and hard and chewy and yummy!!!
I’m totally laughing my @$$ off over here re: Jane Eyre. Too funny!
Six of one, half dozen of another… It’s all sixes to me.
Hmmmm…..frozen peeps.
Note to self: add peeps to the grocery list.
Too funny–cloud factory, “two of one”
Have a great day.
I will definitely try frozen peeps. My brother loves to open the package, let them sit for a couple of days, and then dig in.
Oh, I love “Jane Eyre,” and I think your modern paraphrasing is quite accurate! LOL.
Frozen peeps? I will have to check that out. I am currently enjoying choco-covered peeps…from my favorite confectionery story. Little peep beaks peeking out from chocolatey goodness. Yum. And our local art gallery had a Peep Show party last week. Some crazy creative peep-le in this community! The best was the Trojan Rabbit…how Peeps invade Easter! My own additions weren’t nearly as creative! I like mine stale, a bit crusty. But there is a fine line! You need to check out http://peepresearch.org/ (check out the Medical Miracle link). Their experiments separating the traditional conjoined quintuplet peep chicks is hi-LAR-ious!
Enjoy the day! Erin
We have a few cloud factories around here as well. Oh well, now a days I say at least they are still open and employing people.
I am with you, I think of witty things, but later have no idea what they were.
I don’t understand. “Two of one, half a dozen of the other” makes PERFECT sense to me.
did I mention math isn’t my strong suit?
Love the Cloud factory — I have to make cloud buttons for my husband today for some site! Sounds like fun!
Love your post!
nice. i kinda skipped monday this week too. not that i MEANT to post my wordless wednesday on monday. it just kind of happened that way…
Ok, the cloud factory comment is precious!! Love that one!
Stopping by via UnMom.
And, I fully understand the 3:00am randomness. I have brilliant ideas of what to blog about in the middle of the night – but I have zero desire to get up and do something about them. So, consequently when I wake up in the morning, I haven’t a thought in my noggin! =)
Happy Tuesday
I’m the same exact way with books. In fact, As of late, I don’t even read any unless they were published after 2000! I know it’s bad but it’s MY time and I don’t want to have to learn or think while reading! Hahaha!
Too funny. I like the random you.
Jane Eyre is one of my all time faves…rich in historical detail, thwarted love, wimpy woman who finds she is stronger than she thinks, heroine recues the hero…what’s not to like? Or should I say, “I cannot imagine a more delightfully stimulating work of literature, were I to apply vigorous and intentional pressure on my cerebrum to do so!” hehehe
And thanks for your kind words about my cards…they are my crack, my heroin, my meth… without the rotton teeth and skinny butt! It is the best stress reliever I know of…hmmm, there IS actually ONE thing that is is a better stress reliever, but I probably better just stop here….hehehe
Blessings!
I hate when I have witty things to say in the middle of the night, but they’re gone by morning. If I say them to my pillow and no one answers back, do they exist?
Cloud factories! That is great.
Loved this post even tho the first paragraph had my head spinning & asking "Ok what day is it today?"
Re:The writing of 'Jane Erye'….please, please do not continue to translate! I absolutely love the way the words sound & I also love that I have to work at understanding it! It's like poetry & I wish we all spoke this way now. So much more interesting than "How r u?" Ha!
You don’t know how great it would be to skip Monday THIS week! For ME anyway! In fact, let’s just skip this whole week and move on to the next!
If there’s too much in the way of accents or old english or contractions from the south, etc. I start to feel like my brain is working too hard as I read. That takes the fun out of it for me.
I love your modern day translations.
I’m the opposite. I love Mondays because my work week doesn’t start till Tuesday – so Tuesday is in fact my Monday.
Oh, I really like Little One’s cloud factory idea! So cute:) Those marshmallow peeps are addictive. The Jane Eyre piece is so great!!
If you drizzle chocolate syrup on the marshmallow peeps and then freeze it, heavenly. Hmmm…maybe that’s why I didn’t lose any weight this week.
Cloud factory – what wonderful imagination!
And I love the way you compare Modern books with Jane Eyre!
I do love Jane Eyre in all its floridity.
I love the modern interpretation to what the book says- I think I need a book of those to reference when I’m reading books like that…sometimes I get TOTALLY LOST!
And when it comes to a post existing or not without comments? I certainly FEELS like they don’t exist when no one comments! ALL THAT WORK AND NO ONE CARES?!?! LOL- but for sanity’s sake, I tell myself people read it and are just lazy… (don’t correct me, it’ll break my heart… lol)
Whoa. I can certainly see what you mean. But I will admit. I love your modern interpretation
‘Cloud factory’- Adorable!
I adore Jane Eyre!!!
and my daughter has said the “cloud factory” thing too!
lmao ok, the cloud factory sucked me in n then I thought ummm Jenners…it’s 6 of one or half a dozen of the other :p then, then, then the commentless post (I’ve had many so I hope they do exist)AND THEN! Jane Eyre. LOL I enjoyed the whole thing
(can we skip Mondays? Like all of them…)
Ha – cloud factory!! Kids are adorable!!
And Marshmellow Peeps are my favorite part of Easter, too. Of course I’m super weird and like mine stale. No joke. Open that package up and let it sit there for a day or two so they get a little stiff. Or wait til after Easter when the stores mark them down to like a quarter a box… Stale peeps. Yum. Is that gross??
I’ve always really liked you but I might love you now that you are doing Tuesday things on Monday. You know I have an inordinate fondness for all things irreverent!
I love random thoughts any day of the week.
The cloud factory comment is very cute, but sad at the same time.
I am also a lazy modern reader. I totally understand.
(BTW – I read Gods Behaving Badly – too much fun.)
I love the idea of skipping Monday. And the cloud factor comment is SO sweet!!
You’re too funny.
Love the cloud factory remark. What a cutie!
OK… ummm… WHY would you say ‘two of one…’?
That cracked me up by the way.
You can post-date your posts by using the ‘post options’ feature at the bottom of the ‘publish’ page… just change the date and time… which you probably already knew… you probably accidentally hit ‘publish’ and then said, “Oh, screw it. Who cares, anyway?” Yeah, I’ve done that.
Hope your “Tuesday” is good!
Love the cloud factory! Cute.
“If a blogger posts a post and no one comments on it, does it exist?”
Yes.
Your little one is clever! Cloud factory – that’s great!
And I love your “modern book” versions – that’s awesome!
Cloud factories… that has me laughing still!
I know what you mean about the language in books… Every time I read Jane Austen I end up walking around talking nonsense… you know, words like “amiable” and “tomfoolery” and “quite.” And of course I take on the British accent, which I’ve never ever had. I love books that suck you into their world like that. And I don’t even care how many people look at me funny.
I’d tell you to learn how to postdate your blog posts but I’m sitting here all bored, so I don’t totally mind you posting your Tuesday-Post-on-Monday-Except-It’s-Really-Sunday post tonight. Did you get all that? Good.
Cloud factory, i love it!
And that’s exactly why I don’t read classics. I think I would like the story if I could translate it all into “regular” English. lol. Like you, I love to read but hate to think while reading.
