• The Obligatory 100th Post 100 Things Post

    by  • 04/09/2009 • Life • 52 Comments

So this is my 100th post. Does this have any real meaning? Not really. But ever since I started blogging 100 posts ago, I have been wanting to do the 100 things list. The first time I saw one, I fell in love with the idea. I naively believed that it was some sort of requirement that you wait until your 100th post to do one. So I can now officially do one. So now, on with my official 100th Post 100 Things About Me List.

    1. Starting a list like this is a daunting task for me.
    2. Because I’m a Libra and have a problem making decisions.
    3. I’m a female.
    4. But I’ve been mistaken for a male.
    5. Quite often.
    6. Because I have short hair and don’t dress very girly.
    7. My husband and I always joke about people thinking we are gay lovers.
    8. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
    9. When I hard boil eggs, I have to look up how to do it in a cookbook.
    10. Same when I make corn on the cob.
    11. I am left-handed.
    12. But I throw a ball with my right hand.
    13. But I don’t throw a ball well.
    14. I run like a girl.
    15. A girl who is perhaps a chicken.
    16. I’ve been working on this post in my head ever since I started blogging and saw a post like this.
    17. But I’ve now forgotten many of the things I thought I’d say.
    18. I’m making this up as I go along.
    19. Which is how I approach many things in life.
    20. I haven’t own a pair of high-heeled shoes in about 10 years.
    21. I currently have one dress that is used for both weddings and funerals.
    22. It is black.
    23. I hope I don’t get invited to any daytime weddings in the summer.
    24. I took piano lessons for 8 years.
    25. But if you sat me down to play now, I could probably only play you “Chopsticks.”
    26. I minored in French in college.
    27. But I can’t hold a conversation in French to save my life.
    28. When I am in an Apple store, I open all the browsers to my blog and leave them open.
    29. If you ever see my blog on a computer in an Apple store, I’m probably spying on you from across the room.
    30. No one has ever recognized me while doing this — or paused to read my blog.
    31. I was once a part of a small-time crime ring.
    32. As I expected, I was the first one caught.
    33. It wasn’t really a crime ring, per se.
    34. But it was the closest I’ve ever gotten to committing a real crime.
    35. We modeled ourselves after the characters in Oceans 11.
    36. I ended up being Matt Damon.
    37. See what I told you about being mistaken for a man?
    38. Some of you who read this blog will know what I’m talking about.
    39. I have a sweet tooth.
    40. If carrots tasted like chocolate, I probably wouldn’t have to wear glasses.
    41. I got my first pair of bifocals a few weeks ago.
    42. My knees have started to make noises when I climb the stairs.
    43. Sometimes I forget things.
    44. I’m thinking that, in my case, 40 is the new 65.
    45. I’m not very good at videogames.
    46. My 4-year-old can routinely beat me at Wii bowling.
    47. Everything I really enjoy doing involves being relatively sedentary.
    48. When I was young, I had a very fast metabolism.
    49. I could eat anything I wanted and never gain weight.
    50. This changed in my mid-20s.
    51. And is still causing me all sorts of problems.
    52. I think this change was very very unfair.
    53. When I was working at a paying job, I was always an insubordinate employee.
    54. But I was never fired.
    55. Because I was always good at my job.
    56. But I’m sure my bosses hated me.
    57. I probably would have hated me too.
    58. I was a Fighting Duck.
    59. This kind of ridiculous mascot appealed to me immensely.
    60. I went to exactly one half of a football game during college.
    61. But I went to three Grateful Dead concerts.
    62. I am a terrible liar.
    63. I think I have a good innate sense of direction.
    64. But it has failed me occasionally.
    65. I am not a morning person.
    66. I am not a night owl.
    67. My best time is between 10:00 am and 12:30 pm.
    68. Then I need a nap.
    69. It is a miracle that I get anything done at all.
    70. I don’t drink coffee or soda.
    71. This might be part of my problem.
    72. I would rather blog or read than watch TV.
    73. Unless the show is Dexter.
    74. I used to watch almost every movie that was released.
    75. Now I’m lucky if I see four a year.
    76. I used to buy at least three CDs a week.
    77. Now I can’t even remember the last CD I bought.
    78. I am a late adopter of almost all technology.
    79. Except for the Kindle.
    80. I would be happy if I could eat pizza every day.
    81. I can still remember my telephone number from when I grew up.
    82. But I have no idea what my current cell phone number is.
    83. I believe in life after death.
    84. Mostly because of a dream I had on the night my grandmother died.
    85. She sent me a message via the dream.
    86. It was one of the coolest things that ever happened to me.
    87. The first time I saw Star Wars, I really thought that if I could believe, I could access the power of the Force.
    88. I remember sitting on the ground for hours trying to lift a rock into the air.
    89. I was also heavily influenced by the book Harriet the Spy.
    90. I actually carried a notebook and would follow people around at the mall and write things down about them.
    91. I was about 13.
    92. I probably should have known better by then.
    93. I inquired about joining the Peace Corps in college.
    94. Because of the movie Out of Africa.
    95. My parents told me I would not be living like Meryl Streep’s character in the movie.
    96. I didn’t join the Peace Corps.
    97. I think hippos are hilarious looking.
    98. Because they are so big but have such tiny round ears.
    99. I can’t believe I’ve revealed so much about myself on my blog.
    100. Yet told you almost nothing at all.

Awww shucks. Thanks! It was so fun to write.

I love what you do in Apple stores. I am stealing it. So if you find my blog open on a broser, please feel free to close it and open yours up, as I will do when I see yours!!

      Fabulous!!!

I can’t believe that you went to Grateful Dead shows, and I didn’t. At least one of those show-going experiences is rightfully MINE. Probably two.

      04/16/2009 at 1:24 pm

      Love this.

Yes you do need to drink coffee or diet pop. Of course then you get addicted, like me.

My knees make funny noises when I climb th stairs too!

I took French and piano too. I can ask “where is the bathroom?” and say “my name is Janna” and “I like cheese” and that’s it! (Of course what other phrases are necessary in French?) I also could not play any piano to save my life now!

      Congrats on #100!

I’m finally getting around to reading this. I’m so far behind…

Anyway, so I still look up how to boil hard boiled eggs and how to cook corn on the cob. I found this great way online where you microwave it using WAX paper – you’ve got to google that because it’s really, really ridiculously good tasting.

I know all the phone numbers I ever had since the age of about 5, and I still remember all of my former addresses.

This list was so entertaining, as usual. I love it.

So, tell me more about this crime ring!

      I Stumble you. It’s official.

Generally I just snark at the MEME lists and such, but this is good. As in I actually READ the whole thing good. As in I think Hippos are hilarious too, good.

And the blog vs. TV thing. Ditto.
      yeah. Sorry.. crap.

My 4 beats me at Wii ANYthing.

Sorry about the glasses. I love carrots so Naaa.

I have never done one of these.
      But really want to.
      Maybe someday soon I will.
      #8 makes me laugh!
      Me too on #9.
OMG #20 Me too! But I just bought a pair and am aching to blog about them!
      Ditto 49-51! Sad!
You are right – #100 – You are sneaky!!

      04/13/2009 at 12:10 am

      Congrats on 100 posts!!

I could totally eat pizza everyday.

Loved when you said ‘not that there’s anything wrong with that’…lol!

Fighting duck confused me at first.

You are hilarious, this list was great!

      04/12/2009 at 9:26 pm

Yeah, I don’t think I could survive long without my java and diet coke! I’d be a napping long and often.

      04/11/2009 at 12:35 am

      Congrats on 100 posts!

The similarities between us are frightening! I loved reading this list about you. Don’t worry. My daughter is a pro on the Wii already, too. I just hope she doesn’t have my competativeness.

Wish we were neighbors so we could share pizza all the time!

    20. H.K.
      04/10/2009 at 11:34 pm

Happy 100th post! And I run like a girl too…probably because we are girls! I also catch like one too, but that’s just plain embarassing.

    21. Deb
      04/10/2009 at 10:57 pm

i love hippos. and you! not that you look like a hippo… more like a man. a gay man who eats pizza and doesn’t cook.

actually, you are beautiful and so is your blog. here’s to another 100, indeed!

    22. monstergirlee
      04/10/2009 at 9:09 pm

This is the best 100 things post I’ve read.

btw – as a 6′ tall former tomboy I’ve been mistaken for a man more times than I can count.
Once I switched over to say… a hairdo, womens clothes etc, not so much.

    23. Lacey
      04/10/2009 at 8:36 pm

“A girl who is perhaps a chicken.”

HAHAHAHAHAHA! Love it. Congrats on 100!!!

      04/10/2009 at 8:19 pm

Great 100th post. I especially like that you use a cook book for boiling eggs and corn. BTW, what does it say to do?

      Have a great Easter:)

      Loved the list :)

I didn't realize there were directions for boiling an egg? I thought you just dropped it in the boiling water, left it for about 10 minutes or so & you were good to go?

Great getting to read these little bits about you.

      04/10/2009 at 6:00 pm

Congrats on 100 posts! That was a fun list to read through. I just let the 100th post on my food blog pass by unnoticed, but I may do something for Poetry and Hums. If I ever make it to 100 posts there.

    28. angie
      04/10/2009 at 5:37 pm

This was honestly the BEAT 100 list I’ve ever read. Ever.

    29. Michelle
      04/10/2009 at 4:37 pm

That was a great list….had me laughing most of the way. When I used to keep my hair super short I was sometimes referred to as Sir (grrr). I do believe 40 is the new 65 and if I had a better memory I would probably be able to remember more things to comment on.

Oh, my husband was a dead head. We have all the taped shows to prove it. :)

    30. Andy
      04/10/2009 at 4:33 pm

Hippos are funny looking, you’re right. And dangerous.

I’m also kind of ambidextrous- I write right handed, play basketball left handed, throw a baseball right handed, throw a football left handed and roll a bowling ball right handed.

    31. Kitten
      04/10/2009 at 4:17 pm

That Apple store trick is brilliant! Simply brilliant! I’m going to do that the next time I go to an Apple store!

But I’m leaving the browsers up on MY blog. And since I don’t have a picture up I can be totally anonymous! Tee hee hee!

    33. Dedene
      04/10/2009 at 4:10 pm

Just got bifocals, love Dexter and have seen the Grateful Dead! What else do I need to know about you?

Great list, I’d better start working on mine.

    34. Jen
      04/10/2009 at 3:47 pm

I am in awe of people who do this 100 things about me post. I don’t think that I could ever do that.

    35. Jaci
      04/10/2009 at 2:50 pm

You’re a left handed, French used-to-speak gay lover? See, I never knew that about you. I did learn something. :)

Congrats on your 100th post! My kids are great at Wii bowling. I still have to try it. Carrots tasting like chocolate, good idea! I love how you take over the Apple store. Brilliant! So funny:)

      My dear sweet Jenners!

      Happy 100th post!

Where to begin? Well, I was startled to find out you have criminal activity in your past…I will need to investigate this further..)

#4..LOL! This happens to me with my name all the flippin’ time…

#9..I have to do this too…

#20…No high heels in this house for the last 15 years!!!

#28….hee hee hee…You are so diabolical!

      #80…my meal of choice for-evah….

#82…whew! I thought I was the only person on the planet like this!

What a fantastic list…it reminded me of a Seinfeld episode…lots of this and that yet still about nothing! LOL! Just jokin’! I learned ALOT of stuff that I will blackmail you with someday!

You are the best and I hope you write thousands more posts!

(Thanks for the shout out for the giveaway…just a hint for you cause you are so special to me…I might be adding a few new things on Monday….hmmm…)

      Happy 100th Post!

My goal was to do something like this too for my 100th but I was way to sure I couldn’t come up with 100 things. You did it very cleverly.

      Have a great weekend.

Loved it!! Great job. I think my favorite part was learning what you do in the Apple store. That’s hilarious!! Maybe you’ll pick up some new readers that way. :)

      04/10/2009 at 8:17 am

yay happy 100th .. mine is coming up and there is no way I’ll reach 100 things! I had no idea you had such a sketchy past as a criminal! lol

      04/10/2009 at 7:30 am

I didn’t read all 100 things because just like writing it was daunting it for you, reading it seemed daunting to me : ). I just was at a blog where the girl did 10 a day! That is more up my alley! My attention span is WAY short : ). I did notice that you have a sweet tooth! And it made me adore you already : ). I have never seen Dexter, but I want to!

What do you think of the new Real Houswives of New Jersey show? Have you ever seen that before? I saw that you are a Jersey girl in your profile : ). You have a TON of followers for just having 100 posts. Wowzer : ).

Love all the little tidbits of knowledge about Jenners. Very revealing. I can just see you out there on the ground trying to get a rock to levitate off the ground. Sad to say, I used to do the same thing!

      Congratulations on your 100th posting!
