    Thursday = Mama Kat’s Writer’s Workshop

    Participate, read, comment!

This week I’m choosing prompt 5, which basically asks you to sum your life in 45 words — inspired by a man who wrote his own obituary.

This prompt cracked me up because, earlier in the week, I was thinking that my epitaph should be: “Here Lies Jenners … She Never Did Lose That Baby Weight.” (But, to be honest, my kid is going to be 5 soon so I guess I can’t get away with calling it “baby weight” anymore. It is just plain fat.) So here you go — my 45-word (+ or – 3 or 4 extra), self-penned obituary.

Jenners never did lose that baby weight, but she died happy and fulfilled anyway. She read a lot of books, enjoyed writing and never regretted staying at home to watch her son grow up. She married a good egg, and they always took time for vacations.

Tres positive! So happy you're leading the life you want to lead and no worries about the baby weight – you've got a man who loves you, a son who loves you and as long as you're happy in yourself, that's all that ever matters! Here's to you! May you live a very long and happy life! Sarah x P.S. Thanks for dropping by my blog x

This sounds like an incredibly difficult challenge to keep in 45 words! You did great.

Oh Jenners, you and your hubby are good eggs.

What – you mean it's not a good thing to be referring to my 'baby weight' as my 'six-year old baby weight'? :)

LOVED your obit – loved it!! :)

Now I'm sad because my obituary wouldn't mention vacations … we definitely need more of those to make this a life worth celebrating!

Succinct. Nicely done, with a light touch. Very happy and very appropos for that quirky cookie picture icon. Your bliss is showing.

Oh and the second line is my favorite! Like it would be read to the mourners and they'd all be sobbing quietly and nodding their heads. You crack me up!

I was just outside and thinking about the baby weight, as I was pulling weeds. I was thinking passer-bys would be getting an eye-full with my but in the air! And then I thought, screw it! I've had three children!

Then I came in and read this, and now I am laughing:)

Nice obit! I married a good egg too, but he's hard boiled.

      And

"She Never Did Lose That Baby Weight." (But, to be honest, my kid is going to be 5 soon so I guess I can't get away with calling it "baby weight" anymore. It is just plain fat."
Um…seriously? My youngest is 21 and by god it's still BABY FAT! *ahem*

Everytime I get a massage (one a year) I apologize to the lady that I just had a baby. And she replys, aww how old is he? And of course I lie and say 3 months, but he's really pushing 6 years. That place must think I'm a baby machine or crazy.

5 years is totally within normal limits for baby weight non-loss. i am at 15 years and am still using the same excuse.

now down to business… jenners, what a wonderful obit. all the important things covered. you can die in peace… just hopefully not too soon!!

      06/04/2009 at 4:22 pm

Straight and to the point…LOVE it! I am hoping that instead of losing my baby weight someone will just come and TAKE it from me, like rob me of it! =)

I wrote my real obituary already. It is going in my pre-planning funeral package. yup. I'm already planning my own funeral. Mostly cuz I don't trust everyone else to do it. Well, why not, I planned my daughter's funeral and my husband's. I'm practically an expert. But mine's not as funny as yours, I'm afraid. I'm much too boring to have a funny obit! :)

      Thanks for passing by =)

You're right, we need to give ourselves more credit, and just do it! We can succeed. Who says that being sahm's paralyzes us or our dreams? I'll keep you posted if I find some local photography courses ; )

By the way, your obituary is great. Its to the point, detailed, and it reflects your humor. Who needs all the melodrama lol.
