    Thursday = Mama Kat’s Writer’s Workshop
    Participate, read, comment!

This week, all the Writer’s Workshop prompts were screaming “Pick me, Jenners! Pick me!” So I did … but I swear I did them short and sweet. I actually don’t have much time for blogging tonight as Mr. Jenners is out buying Guitar Hero RIGHT NOW so I have to get ready to rock1!

Prompt 1. Grab your current read. Let the book fall open to a random page and share two “teaser” sentences from that page, somewhere between lines 7 and 12.

“The hair whipped through her hair and blouse, making her feel like a teenager in a speeding convertible. Hoping that nobody below was taking note of the varicose veins in her legs, she called out “whooooooo!” into the rushing air, letting the folds of her silk top shift so that they exposed a piece of lace bra.”

    – From p. 27 of The Embers by Hyatt Bass (this is from my Advanced Reading Copy — the book is being released in July in case you go looking for it and wonder why I have it already — ahhhh…the lovely perks of having a book blog!)

Prompt 2. What do you aspire to be?

I aspire to be funny, thin, well-read, and loving.

Prompt 3. Share a piece of unsolicited parenting advice...only I’m soliciting it.

Do whatever it takes to get your kids to fall asleep on their own early in life.

Prompt 4. Tell us about your blogline…how long have you been blogging, when did you start, what were/are your goals for your blog, etc.

My very first blog post  was November 5, 2008. The title of the post “Why Blog?” and listed my reasons for starting a blog. But it basically came down to the fact that I needed a creative outlet because I felt my brain was turning to mush as a stay-at-home mom. Now my blogging goals are nothing short of world domination and a six-figure income.

    5. If you had 5000 dollars to give away or donate to a charity…explain what you would do with it and why.

I would donate to The Human Fund 2Money for People. I am both the director and sole recipient of the donations.

1 Dedicated readers who hang on my every word (don’t laugh…there may be one or two) might remember my post about how much I wanted Guitar Hero after playing it in South Dakota with my brother and sister-in-law. I vowed to become a Guitar Hero superstar. I planned to ask for it for my birthday but we went to Atlantic City last night and won $300 (woo hoo!) and so Mr. Jenners is getting it for me now! Aren’t I spoiled and lucky? Yes…I am. I know it!

2 Yes…this is a nod to Seinfeld — greatest TV show ever!

Woohoo for guitar hero! THat's awesome! Any chance you will post a video of you playing it? I thought not.

Good luck with the six figure income and world domination. Let me know your secret if you achieve them!

That Human Fund does sound like one worthy cause :) You're going to have a blast with Guitar Hero. Are you dying your hair purple or maybe a mohawk as you jam through the night? Funny post as always, Jenners!

My blog started out the same way. As a new mom of only a handful of months I felt my mind becoming fuzzy and slow. Blogging got my bum in the writing chair and my mind working. And reading blogs also helps keep the wheels turning!

I'd go for the thin myself, but there is a definite difference between aspiring and "a snowball's chance in …"

      Oh Well.

Loved the sentences from the book you are reading…

Dude … when you get good at Guitar Hero, I am going to come to Jersey to play with you. But I'm a GH crank and I hate playing with people who cause the song to fail so we'll wait a bit. ;)

And I loved the Human Fund reference! Good old George …

As usual, you crack me up! I swear, they should hire you to do a stand-up comedy routine at the Blogher convention.

You are so going to be up all night rockin' out to Guitar Hero. Have fun!

Your parenting advice is spot on. We lulled our girls to sleep with cuddles and milk every nap/bedtime until they were well over a year old. NOT a fun habit to break! :)

Guitar Hero! How fun! You are lucky! Rock on! (HAHAHAHA- I really can't say that with a straight face!) And I agree, Seinfeld is the greatest TV show ever.

I second your parenting advice…….it is a good one. Great line to pick from the book you are reading. It peaked my interest. But then if you look at my 365 blog you will see my stack of summer reads! :)

The Human Fund… yeah. That sounds a lot better than The Diane Fund (which never gets any donations, damn it). Thanks for the tip… I'll change my tactics!
