• BBAW Daily Prompt: Setting Goals

The finish line is in sight — BBAW ends today! I’ve been having a ton of fun and meeting so many new book bloggers. If you visited me and I haven’t visited you yet, I will get to your blog eventually … I’m just a bit slow. So on to today’s prompt: Write in 50 words or less…what do you like best about your blog right now and where would you like your blog to be a year from now? (No way I’ll stick to 50 words but I’ll keep it as short as possible.)

What I Like Best About My Blog Right Now

    1. My book review format
    2. My “new” way of listing book reviews, which provides a ranking system and a brief overview to help visitors find books quickly
    3. Overall, I’m finally happy with the layout … but I’m always tinkering with it to make it better. Any suggestions are appreciated! What am I missing that you would like?

My Goals for the Coming Year

    1. I’d like to keep track of books I learn about from other book blogs and added to my TBR wish list a bit better — I think I’ll add a section for that.
    2. I’m considering trying to get my own domain name so my blog name isn’t so long (will probably look into this in January).
    3. I’m planning on hosting another version of the Take A Chance Challenge — with all new challenges!
    4. I would like to post a minimum of three times a week — one book review, one bookish post related to reading but on a wide variety of topics, and one “meme” post such as My Favorite Reads, A to Z Wednesday or Musing Monday.
    5. I’d like to get my own blog business cards. (I currently print them out myself but once I get my own “domain name,” I think I’d like to spring for some “real” cards. Just to make myself feel important.)
    6. I’d like to try and attend a book blogging event — like the BEA. (It just sounded so fun.)

Well, BBAW has been a ton of fun. I’ve enjoyed meeting so many new bloggers, and I’m really enthused about continuing on with this blog. And I know it has been a long time since I wrote a book review so I’m definitely going to be focusing on getting one written over the weekend — I have books I read in July just sitting there waiting for me to write about them!

And I’ll be announcing the winners of my BBAW giveaways tomorrow. Good luck to all entrants!

I really like the way you list your books too. I'm considering doing something like that. I hope you can solve the problem of keeping track of the TBR list. I also like the enthusiasm that comes through in your goals. It's obvious you love blogging.

Great goals for next year — although I am scared to death to attempt my own domain (I have a hard enough time working through Blogger!)

Just thought I would try to make the end of BBAW a bit special for you — you won the Summer Vacation Reading Challenge :)

If you send me your email address, I will gladly have the $20 gift certificate delivered electronically.

      CONGRATS!!!!

I'd love to go to BEA, but I think I'll have to settle for the LA Times Festival of Books.

A bit off topic I know but I thought I'd let you know that you have been tagged – not as painful as it first sounds. If you pop over to me at Pen And Paper you'll see the details.

I'm also with you on the BEA for next year. I really want to go, and hope I can go. The Cancelled the Canadian version of it, but I really want to go to at least one major book conference next year.

Excellent goals. I will be looking forward to your next Take A Chance Challenge!

It seems a lot of us want to keep better track of where we saw that book or read that great review. Maybe someone should come up with a challenge to do it!

Great goals – I too need to keep track of who to blame for making my TBR get so big, lol.

Bookish events as a whole are fun to attend. I got to meet a lot of folks this past April during the LA Times Festival of Books and it was a lot of fun.

I should write a goal post but right now I am not movitivated to do so. Perhaps after lunch.

I would love it if you could come to BEA and I could meet you live and in person!

You have some great goals for the year. I think your blog is really cool. You have so many different things to look at and read and it's layed out so well!

I need to come up with a system for remembering what book are recommended by which blogs! I don't keep very good track right now

I hope you really can go to a book event — preferably one that I can go to too! BEA is a great choice.

Ooh, attending BEA…that's an excellent idea. I haven't posted my goals yet, but I think I'm going to steal that one, haha! :D

another suggestion for business cards is Moo. Personally, I love that you can use your own images on the one side. Not surprisingly, I used photos of lighthouses that I have taken…lol

I really need to do a re-design of my blog this year. Just a bit…

Those are some good aspirations for your blog. I can't think that far ahead! I need to figure out today. You will be an inspiration to me.

      Have a great weekend.

Great list of goals! I couldn't do it in under 50 words, either.

I like your blog. I wish I had two sidebars. I tried downloading a template, but when it told me I'd lose my current layout and have to start over, I got scared and stopped.

And BBAW has been a lot of fun!

Great list of goals! I chose not to do the goal thing today, and am doing a giveaway instead. This is most likely because I am flying by the seat of my pants, and have no idea what I want for my blog! I'm not real happy with blogger, but have absolutely no talent with html, so I feel trapped. Three posts a week is good. Right now, I am posting every day and is hard to keep up. I like the idea of business cards too. How many times a week do we meet people, and we tell them to look up our blog?

Funny how we all have a longer list of goals than things we actually like. Me? I'm still trying to figure out what I want to say. Perhaps goal number one should be working on making my mind up and going ahead with things.

Try Vista Print for business cards. They are cheap and the cards are very nice. And lots of images to choose from!

      Great list of goals!

What a great list of goals! Your business card idea is such a good one. And I'm with you on BEA – I'd love to go next year too!
