41 Things I Love ABout Mr. Jenners

My Old Man … 41 Years Old Today!Today is Mr. Jenners’s birthday! In honor of this day, I thought I would write down 41 things I love about him (one for each year of his life).
- He keeps going in Super Mario Brothers Wii after the Little One and I fall in the lava about 2.5 seconds into the level.
- He plays every game to win, no matter how silly or inconsequential.
- He inspires me to exercise…
- …but he doesn’t yell at me when I don’t exercise. (He just shakes his head in a disappointed way that makes me feel worse and vow to do better).
- He works hard for the money. (Just like Donna Summer!)
- He can be goofy with me. (We once spent an hour bouncing a balloon between us using only our feet.)
- He inspires respect from the Little One…
- …yet he spoils him rotten despite his stern disciplinarian exterior.
- He thinks vacations are important…
- …and regularly finds super good deals that allow us to go on vacations beyond our means.
- If there is a loophole that benefits him, he will find it.
- His pragmatic logical side balances out my flighty illogical side.
- In other words, he is Spock to my Captain Kirk (or Lt. Uhura or Scotty or someone else from Star Trek who isn’t so logical. A tribble maybe?)
- He spoils me rotten just like the Little One…
- …despite the fact that I rarely spoil him.
- He taught me it is better to buy one expensive quality item than 10 cheap crappy items.
- He didn’t get me sick when he got that stomach bug earlier this year…
- …and cleaned up the toilet that had vomit spray all over it.
- He is an excellent shoveler of snow.
- He lets me drive his new car even though I know it stresses him out.
- He doesn’t bat an eye when I wear mismatched pajamas with holes in them and granny panties.
- He had accepted the fact that the laundry gets washed and folded but will sit in the laundry basket for a week before being put away.
- When there is a project that needs to be done around the house, he gets right on it…
- …and he finishes it up. Unlike some other people around here. (Namely me.)
- He lets me sleep in on Saturdays and Sundays.
- He can pick out paint colors like a professional interior designer.
- He puts up with my lazy and bland-tasting cooking.
- He allows me to stay-at-home even though he suspects I spend 50% of that time blogging instead of cleaning. (It is really more like 25%. Honest!)
- He encourages my blogging…
- …and even reads my blog posts (if they aren’t too long.) (Chances are he will only read this one because it is about him.)
- He has endearingly poor taste in music.
- He is good at pointing out the flaws in my grand plans.
- He makes me laugh like no one else in the world.
- He is a good driver.
- He loves the Little One and finds him as endearing and lovable and amusing and exasperating as I do.
- He is a talented photographer.
- He has appallingly bad taste in TV shows (ALF, Saved by the Bell).
- He provides our little family with financial security … not so easy in this crazy economy.
- He is one of the few people in the entire world that I trust absolutely.
- He can be relied on to do the right thing, no matter what.
- He loves me as I am.

My husband also fixes everything around the house…the minute he sees something is broken. I love that about him. But I must say, his TV favorites aren't much better than Mr. J's. Uggh.
I too have a husband who lets me be a "stay-at-home mom who blogs all day but tries to throw in laundry every now and then to make it look like I accomplished something."
Now that my son is 16 and driving, not so sure I qualify as a stay-at-home mom.
