My Adventures: 2 – Swimming With Dolphins

I recently decided to write a series of posts about various adventures I’ve had in my life. The first post was about riding horses bareback in the ocean, which I did on my honeymoon with Mr. Jenners. Continuing on with our honeymoon adventures comes this post about swimming with dolphins.
As I mentioned previously, we honeymooned in Jamaica–Island of Lax Safety Standards. During our stay, we took a terrifying taxi ride to swim with dolphins. As we rode, it started to rain. I was worried that the weather would prevent us from swimming with the dolphins. After all, if this was in the U.S., it would have been canceled immediately. However, this was Jamaica–so swimming with dolphins in the rain was on!!! (However, when it started to thunder and lightning, we voluntarily removed ourselves from the water. I love dolphins and all, but I don’t want to end my life being cooked with them!)

One of the huge disadvantages of wearing glasses is that I couldn’t see good for the entire swim. However, as you can see, we got really up close and personal with these amazing animals. If you’ve never had the chance to do this (and I highly recommend that you do), they feel really smooth–almost like rubber or something. And they are really big … much bigger than you think when you are just watching them swim. It really was an amazing thing to do, and I would do it again in a heartbeat.
By the way, we’re having some summer adventures of our own right now so I won’t be around the blogging world for a week or so.

Dude, can you say "best honeymoon EVER" or what? You guys really partied! (I think swimming with dolphins would be much more fun than riding a horse into the ocean, though once again I have to admit that I can't swim… so I'd still be screaming like a little girl the whole time. Sigh.
How incredible! The closest I've been to a dolphin is the show at the Baltimore Aquarium.

In Florida, we swam with manatees on a very cold, rainy day, lol.
Looks like y'all had a good time, even with the storm and scary taxi ride. I've never been on an organized dolphin adventure…but I have unexpectedly swam with them in the ocean, and that was really cool. When I was 13, I was on St. George island and swam out to a sandbar with some of my friends… before we knew it, there were four or five dolphins swimming around us. I wish I'd had a camera…
Oh how fun!! Swimming with the dolphins is on my bucket list – well, you know, as long as it's not because I've kicked the bucket.

Swimming with the dolphins does look like so much fun! I can relate to being pale like that.
I don't tan very well, so pale is my normal color.
Now this looks significantly better than the horse adventure.

Lovely pictures, I can see those big fat raindrops falling all around you. It's never really appealed to me to swim with dolphins before but reading your post I might just have to add it to my ever growing wish list

Four years ago we took a family vacation to Florida and splurged on a trip to Discovery Cove to swim with the dolphins – and snorkel with the sting rays. It was the most fabulous experience ever!

I have not swam with a dolphin, but got to touch one that kept swimming up to us at SeaWorld. It was amazing. Have fun on your trip and come back with lots more adventure stories!
We did the Swimming with Rubber Guys too at Sea World in Orlando. …not realizing that they also did it at San Diego, which is about 18 million times closer to where we live, but whatever… I really felt that my dolphin, named Yoko as I recall, was not bonding with me, and furthermore, saw the whole Swimming with People thing as "just a job" and that made me very sad. I'm still not really over it….
I just wear my glasses IN the pool. Sure, it looks stupid – but I can see.

I recently got eye surgery and I'm telling you that swimming is a whole new experience when you can actually see! It's awesome.
This looks so much more fun than the horses adventure. I remember touching a dolphin at Sea World when I was a kid…that feel of firm velvet has stayed with me all these years.
