Prompt 3.) What were you blogging about last year at this time? What has changed?
Oooh…this could be interesting (or, in all probability, very boring). Here is what I was writing about around this time last year. If you don’t feel like clicking over, here are the highlights.
- Last year at this time: I wrote about behaviors I should stop—like running into the street to pick up mangled pennies, making things worse before seeking help from Mr. Jenners, eating cookies in times of stress.
- What has changed: Oh dear. Seems I didn’t listen to myself one bit. I still dart into parking lots to pick up coins. I still hide things from Mr. Jenners when I mess things up (like when I click on links inside an e-mail when I shouldn’t). And I still eat cookies in times of stress. I guess I didn’t learn anything!!!
- Last year at this time: I asked Mother Nature to stop with the snow already.
- What has changed: I do have to give Mother Nature credit; she has been much better behaved this year in terms of snow. Now if we could just do something about that cold icy wind….
- Last year at this time: I told my blog readers that I was done talking about Girl Scout cookies because it was Peeps season.
- What has changed: So much has changed since last year. This year I only mentioned Girl Scout cookies every other post. But this does remind me that it is time to go Peeps shopping. I love putting them in the freezer and letting them harden up before I eat them. And in case you don’t know what Peeps are, they are marshmallow-shaped animals covered in bright colored sugar. So nutritious!!!
And now, this post veers way off course as I show you some funny photos of Peeps doing stuff they shouldn’t be doing. I found these when looking for an image of Peeps to put in this post. (The Internet truly is a gift that keeps on giving. By the way, you can click on each photo to see the original source where I found it.)
EXTRA SPECIAL BONUS: I found this hilarious (if you have a dark sense of humor) blog called 100 Ways To Kill A Peep. Check it out!

I love blowing up peeps in the microwave but eating them, not so much.
You are the second one to mention blowing them up in the microwave. I think I’ve got to try that. I imagine clean-up might be a bit of a mess though!
I’m afraid that I’ll have weird peep dreams now. Attack of the 50 foot peep!!!
I know!!! It makes me wonder what scenes we can come up with here at home. We’ll have to plan a photo shoot for Easter time.
Oh my gosh — the Peep thing was hilarious! This has made me wonder what I was doing last year…I’ll have to take a look!!
It is weird to look back and see what you were doing a year ago. I love blogging for that reason. It does take you back in time.
Great post! You did it again, you made me laugh.
The Secret Life of Peeps–too, too funny! It’s ridiculous, which I love.
Ridiculousness always makes for a good laugh doesn’t it? : )
Fun meme. Its always interesting to compar then and now.
lol about the peeps. My one girlfriend LOVES them. She can eat them like theres no tomorrow. I myself wont eat any…too sweet.
If you eat too many Peeps, chances are there won’t be a tomorrow! HAHA! They are crazy sweet but I love them (in moderation of course.) : )
Peeps are my younger daughters favorite candy. At Easter, we send her all the different colors we can find and that’s a lot now. I’ll have to tell her your trick ofhiding putting them in the freezer to harden. She just unwraps them and lets them sit out for days. Personally, I liken peeps to circus peanuts – YUK! but as the French say, chacun a son gout. Sorry, don’t know how to make the little accent thingy over the u.
I’m a huge fan of (stale) circus peanuts!! The freezing of the Peeps adds a bit more “heft” to the bite.
Peeps are the anti candy…. I fear them!
And after seeing these photos, you are right to be afraid. Be very afraid!
I love all things Peep..in fact, I am a member of the Peep Fan Club…I will have to find my membership card.
I especially love to blow them up in the microwave….
As fun as I bet that is to blow them up in the microwave, I don’t think I’d want to clean it up afterwards.
Yep, my favorite dessert ever!! Got to love a peep!!
I agree. Just stocked up on my grocery store run today.
I didn’t know Peeps cannibalized relatives during campfires.
Oh yes! The seamy side of the Peeps world is more than a little disturbing. That is just the beginning of the horrors…
I’m always glad when girl scout cookie season ends, because everybody always talks about those blessed thin mints, and it sounds like they’re absolutely divine, but I don’t think we even have them here. I’m dying to try them and have never seen the things!
Oh dear. That is a true tragedy. I offer my sincere condolences and think it would be worth traveling far to obtain them. (But that is just me.)
Those pole-dancing peeps are HILARIOUS!
Isn’t that the funniest picture? I just love the whole idea of it.
you are always good for a laugh…
At least I’m good for something.
I absolutely love Peeps. They are so cute (and so were your pictures
Maybe I should say I love the look of Peeps but don’t like to eat them – oh no!
But I love everything about Girl Scout cookies – the taste, the Girl Scouts who sell them and especially the memories of when I was a Brownie and then a Girl Scout and sold cookies!
I have fond memories of being a Girl Scout too. Though I had to sell door to door the old-fashioned way — not outside a store like today. I don’t see them going around the neighborhoods anymore, but maybe that is just here.
Peeps are a little slice of heaven, aren’t they? I love the little photo montages of peeps doing naughty things, and love peeps in the freezer as well. Did you know that you can get valentine’s peeps shaped like hearts, and Christmas peeps shaped like snowmen and Christmas trees? I found them while perusing the holiday section of Jo-Ann this year. The makers of peeps are clever little schemers, making them available virtually year round!
I do think they are getting clever. I haven’t see the Valentine’s Day ones but I did the see the Christmas ones. Soon we’ll have their sugary goodness yearround!
great pictures of your peeps! I especially like the cannabalistic boy scouts.
Now I’ll never look at Boy Scouts OR Peeps the same ever again.
Lol what wonderfully silly and lovely shots!
I’ll never look at Peeps the same way again.
The secret life of peeps, lol! Love it!
Wasn’t that funny? I just wonder about the person who thought that up.
I must have a seriously warped sense of humor because that pole dancing peep is cracking me up!
You and I both have warped senses of humor! That is the very best kind I think!
Ok, those Peeps pictures are great!
Provides a lot of good ideas for Easter baskets this year, huh?
Those pictures of Peeps had me laughing so hard! I love that website “100 ways to kill peeps.” They come up with the most unique ideas
Freezing peeps? Hmm, never tried that before! I never really liked them much because of the mushiness to them. Maybe I should try eating them the frozen way
I really love them frozen or a little stale. When they are all soft and mushy, I don’t really like them as much.
Marshmallows roasting marshmallows is just wrong.
It is cannabalistic isn’t it? But oh so funny!
I do not eat Peeps myself but find them hilarious — have you seen the annual Washington Post Peeps Contest? People make amazing dioramas with Peeps. Here’s a link to the 2010 results:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/artsandliving/magazine/peeps2010/index.html
You can also go online and see past winners. Funniest thing on the internet, except maybe the Bulwer-Lytton Contest
I never knew there was this whole Peeps subculture until I did this post. Thanks for the link!
So what about Girl Scout cookies doing the same things? These peeps photos are just too funny. The night life one gave me a good chuckle.
Who knew Peeps had this seamy underside to them! They look so bright and innocent.
I wanted to write something for this prompt, but it bummed me out. All I did was whine about stuff, so nothing’s changed!
I had CHOCOLATE peeps (actually Santas) at Christmas – finally, one I can tolerate…that sugar crunching thing weirds me out!
And I love the sites where they do vile things to Peeps…I may need to get into therapy.
I’ll join you in therapy. I got quite a kick out of seeing Peeps being killed in various ways. Much more amusement than I should have I think.
Love all the crazy peeps! Glad Mother Nature has been kind to you.
I’m thankful for Mother Nature’s kindness too. But after I wrote this post, we had really icy cold wind today. I think she may have read what I wrote and got upset!
I love the peep photos, but can’t really say that I like eating them. I’m not a fan of marshmallows, especially raw. The only way I like them is cooked (completely melted through) over a campfire (or over a candle for those times when I have random roasted marshmallow cravings).
I can’t say that it ever occurred to me to roast marshmallows over a candle … but it sounds like fun!
Peeps! I don’t do the girl guide cookies thing, but I do love my Twix. Mr. M. was being an annoying man yesterday, so out went out with the intention of buying a large supply and there had NONE. NONE I say. So I came home and had I nice bowl of carrot/orange soup. I was so good. (I walked)
Kudos to you! That kind of good behavior deserves … a Twix!
So glad I am not the only one who is stagnant.
Love the peep pictures. Cute.
Stagnant is such a great word for what I feel!
I love those naughty peeps with the pole dancer. So funny! So wrong. I think it’s pretty interesting to look back last year. Thank goodness this winter was better.
I’ll never be able to look at Peeps in quite the same way again! Now I’ll imagine them as little strippers. : )
Wait! This is it: http://www.topoimagery.com/peeps/
I was wrong – not snow peas, it was peppers. Check out the “main dishes” section.
Thank you!!!!!
You know, I actually don’t like to eat peeps, but I love them for those pictures. The contests for each year are awesome. Once Jason and I found a website that was cooking with peeps, and it just had to be a spoof. There were recipes, for instance, that called for peeps to be thrown in with snow peas and soy sauce in a stir fry. With pictures.
I never knew there was such an underground world of Peeps cooking, Peeps scene staging, etc.
This prompt made me curious about what I was doing this time last year. Apparently I was pretty busy because I only had a couple of posts in March.
That website is hilarious. My husband liked it, too.
I was hoping I was up to something better than I was. I live a pretty boring life apparently.
The Secret Life of Peeps. That is SO FUNNY!!! ahahahha!!!!!
I was in WalMart today and saw chocolate peeps. I’ve never been a Peeps fan (sorry….I prefer Cadbury Eggs and Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs and Bunnies), so I didn’t look any closer, but I did wonder for a brief moment what a chocolate Peep would be like.
I tried the chocolate Peeps once and was disappointed. It didn’t really taste all that good.
OMG…100 Ways to Kill a peep, and those photos are just so funny. Thanks for the ha ha ha.
My favorite one was the “grater.” : )
I love the peeps pix! Especially the Boy Scouts since my not-so-little one has been a scout since 2nd grade! Had to steal that one to post on FaceBook.
Wasn’t that a cute one? It never occurred to me to make scenes with Peeps but apparently it is quite popular.
