    January
    My mother is gone
    Her loss echoes throughout me
    Rippling in my pond
    February
    iPhone comes to me
    Technology at its best
    Mostly used for games
    March
    iPad comes to me
    So many applications
    Mostly used for games

    April
    Yes Day for my son
Costs much money, brings new fish
    Won't be repeated
    May
    Married for 9 years
To a man who doesn't read
    Mixed marriages work
    June
    Summertime arrives
    The bane of stay-at-home moms
    Thank God for summer camp!
    July
    Hiking in Glacier
Oh look! Grizzly mom and cubs
    Let's turn around now
    August
    Rumbling ground, house shakes
What in the hell could that be?
    Earthquake in Jersey
    September
    Black and white puppy
    Captures hearts, brightens each day
    Makes many messes
    October
    Son has year of firsts
Lost tooth, rides bike, much much more
    Where is my baby?
    November
    Three years of blogging
    Amazed still here and thriving
    Love my faithful fans
    December
    Another year ends
    Still haven't lost baby weight
    Chocolate wins again

What a beautiful way to summarize the year. Next year missing mom will still be there, but hopefully the words will be a bit smaller for you.

I just love your haiku year-in-review. You definitely had quite a year full of ups and downs too! And an iPhone and iPad all within a span of 2 months? Lucky you! Hope you and your family have a fantastic 2012!

    5. 01/03/2012 at 8:24 am

You are so stinkin’ creative! First to envision of the concept of a year in haiku – and then to actually follow through with amazing talent. I stand in awe :)

I wish you and your family a terrific 2012!

I remember Yes Day fondly. And my hubby doesn’t read either. I have got him hooked on audio books for trips and his work commute. Looking forward to more Romeo :)
      Happy 2012 :)

      LOVE this haiku!

    9. 01/02/2012 at 3:54 am

Though you suffered a terrible loss (so soon after another one too), I think that you’ve also had some “life goes on” experiences this year with your son and that’s a good thing! Now on to 2012 and losing that baby weight, right?

    10. 01/02/2012 at 12:10 am

This was great – the mixed marriage one made me laugh the most. My hubby reads SO much. I do a lot of reading for school but it burns me out to fun reading. In a sense, we, too, kind of have a mixed marriage.

And seriously, where did your baby go – I remember when he was just a little guy.

      Great recap – happy 2012.

Fabulous idea, Mrs. J! Your cleverosity triumphs again ;-)

I’m right there with you on December’s theme. I worked out more this year than ever before in my adult life and actually gained weight. (I don’t think the two have anything to do with each other though, honestly it’s the coffee cart coming back to haunt me.)

We have an ipad we use for games a lot too. Those darn angry birds have stolen so many hours of my life!

      Happy New Year!

    23. 12/31/2011 at 7:46 pm

Great post, Jenners! Love the Wordle!! I also got an iPhone in February, and mostly use it to text, play games (Words with Friends), and take photos. I don’t use it to make calls very often!

Wishing you and your family a happy and healthy 2012!

    31. 12/31/2011 at 2:07 pm

What a great wrap-up. I hope 2012 is only filled with happy things like puppy and chocolate kisses. But no chocolate for puppy!
      Happy New Year!

      • 12/31/2011 at 7:59 pm

Yes … no chocolate for puppy — even though his little nose always sniffs at it so urgently!! I wish you and yours all the best for 2012! Happy New Year!

    35. 12/31/2011 at 11:44 am

I love December, that is the story of my life each year! I think I an going to get some chocolate to celebrate with!
And I think I have been here reading for almost the whole 3 years!
      Happy New Year!

      • 12/31/2011 at 7:57 pm

I agree — celebrate with chocolate and start the new year right. And it amazes me to have people who have been with me almost from the very start. It stuns me actually.

I wish you and yours all the best for 2012! Happy New Year!

    36. 12/31/2011 at 11:11 am

Moving, funny, and honest. Like all your posts this is what I love about coming here, and what I have grown to expect when I visit. I hope that your year is a lot more joyful this time around, my friend, and I wish you all the best that the world had to offer. Many good wishes and a Happy New Year to you, Jenners.

    39. 12/31/2011 at 10:34 am

Chocolate always wins, doesn’t it? You’re creativity astounds me. You rock!

I hope you had a great holiday season. I’ve had you in my thoughts quite a bit recently, as I’m sure there were mixed emotions for you with this time of year. I wish you and your family all of the best in the coming year.

      • 12/31/2011 at 7:55 pm

Chocolate shall have the last laugh, I suspect. Thanks for your kind thoughts. It has been a bittersweet holiday season. I’m actually relieved it is done in many ways.

I wish you and yours all the best for 2012! Happy New Year!

    40. 12/31/2011 at 10:03 am

    42. 12/31/2011 at 9:26 am

      praise in haiku:

      you are creative
we are all in awe of you
      may you have good year

well, heh, it does the 5, 7, 5 but unlike yours not the juxtaposition of ideas. or the creativity. or the humor. or the talent…..

      • 12/31/2011 at 7:54 pm

I actually didn’t think my haikus were all that good, actually. : )

I wish you and yours all the best for 2012! Happy New Year!

    43. 12/31/2011 at 8:14 am

What can I say except to repeat Kelly’s thoughts …… the best yearly wrap up, so cleverly done. Thanks for sharing your year, here’s to a wonderful 2012.

      • 12/31/2011 at 7:54 pm

Wishing you and yours a happy and healthy 2012!

    44. 12/31/2011 at 6:50 am

You never fail to amaze me with your cleverness and wit!!! You should send this out with your Christmas cards. And yes, I married a non-reader as well. At least we don’t fight over the books.

      • 12/31/2011 at 7:53 pm

I agree that not fighting over books is one of the perks of being married to a non-reader. Being limited in how many books you can have is!

Also, I wish you and yours all the best for 2012! Happy New Year!

    45. 12/31/2011 at 5:09 am

This is the best yearly wrap up I’ve seen!

I wish you and your family all the best for 2012.
