Guess who just loves digging in dirt and tracking little muddy paw prints all over the (cream-colored) carpet?

      Look at that mug!

    2. 04/02/2012 at 10:15 pm

I don’t think I’ve ever heard of someone owning their own carpet cleaning machine before. I don’t know whether to be impressed by your implied cleanliness or appalled by your implied filth!

      • 04/03/2012 at 8:54 pm

It isn’t so rare now. Even Wal-Mart sells them. It is way cheaper than renting those machines from the grocery store. And if you have a pet, it is a must. And, for the record, despite my lackluster housekeeping, I don’t live in filth. (Though Mr. Jenners might beg to differ. But he is persnickety and can be safely ignored.)

      aw but look how adorable?!?!

      • 04/01/2012 at 8:03 pm

I know … it saves him every time.

    4. 03/31/2012 at 6:13 pm

Between you and Me, pictures of cats leave me shaking my head wondering why I bothered. However dogs? Love them! I love this picture of Romeo! So much character. Sweet little guy.

      • 03/31/2012 at 8:35 pm

I agree with you … but will deny it if any cat people call me on it. Dogs just have so much personality in their faces — more so than cats.

    5. 03/31/2012 at 1:52 pm

I just wanna give that pup a kiss – maybe after he’s washed off his face. Max brings in grass with the mud which stresses me out since Gage will pick up anything on the floor and maybe try to taste it if mom’s not looking.

      • 03/31/2012 at 8:28 pm

I could see babies and messy dogs being very incompatible!! I know everything Romeo drags in and I would be afraid for Gage if he were to visit!

    6. 03/31/2012 at 1:06 pm

Aww, such a sad but cute look on his face! :)

      • 03/31/2012 at 8:26 pm

I thought he looked kind of melancholy too — which he is not. He is the happiest little pup I’ve ever seen. I guess we just caught him in a pensive moment.

    7. 03/30/2012 at 2:22 pm

How cute!! How can you get upset with a face like that? I am physically incapable of being mad at my dog!!

      • 03/30/2012 at 9:01 pm

I am incapable of it too. They’re lucky they are so cute, huh?

    8. 03/29/2012 at 11:50 pm

Awe! but with a face like that you just can’t be mad, it isn’t allowed :)

      • 03/30/2012 at 2:09 pm

I know … it saves him every time. I imagine Ryder can get away with quite a bit of naughtiness too with his cute little face!! (Actually, all your kids could get away with being bad as they are all such cuties. Of course, I know they are pure angels, right? )

    9. 03/29/2012 at 9:38 pm

      Oh Romeo, Romeo!

      • 03/30/2012 at 2:06 pm

        Why art thou digging, Romeo?

    10. 03/29/2012 at 9:14 pm

What a cutie pie! And any dog owner who doesn’t own a whole pet cleaning arsenal is crazy!

      • 03/30/2012 at 2:05 pm

I agree!! I’d gotten the steam cleaner originally because of the kid but I never needed it as much as I do now. They should be the first thing you buy when you get a dog!

    11. 03/29/2012 at 8:52 pm

Awwwww :) with a face like that, you can’t get angry at him. We have hardwood floors because of my allergies, but I can just imagine how messy it would be having carpets and a dog. Diego doesn’t make too much mess, he’s more of a housecat than anything.

      • 03/30/2012 at 2:04 pm

I need a dog who thinks he’s a housecat and not a one-dog dirt digging machine!

    12. 03/29/2012 at 2:13 pm

even dirty he’s adorable  I’m sure he makes up for making the carpets a mess by keeping the kitchen floor clean of food particles

      • 03/29/2012 at 7:59 pm

You make a good point. He does do that … and he keeps trying to volunteer to lick the dishes before they go in the dishwasher but I keep turning him down.

    13. 03/29/2012 at 12:41 pm

We bought the “Magic Rug” in the as-seen-on-TV aisle at Wal-Mart. “Magically sucks the mud off of puppy feet as they walk across”. Not helpful in the least when they’re big enough to step over. More scrubbing!

      • 03/29/2012 at 7:58 pm

What!!!??? I need this Magic Rug. Did it work .. you know, besides when the dogs step over it!?

    14. 03/29/2012 at 11:23 am

Hope you don’t mind I’m smiling. My dog digs daily. We have towels by the door always. We have holes all over the yard. Between him and the gophers these holes are huge!!!

      • 03/29/2012 at 7:58 pm

I fell in one of his little holes the other day. It is like they think it is their job or something!!

    15. 03/28/2012 at 5:51 pm

They are the best thing to own (doggies too!) ;o) He is darn cute.

      • 03/28/2012 at 8:09 pm

We were renting them from the store but it was getting ridiculous and it made more sense to just buy one.

    16. 03/28/2012 at 3:59 pm

Awwww, he’s just having fun! I keep a hand towel on the table by my back door. My girls are very good about stopping to have their feet wiped when them come in.

How can you resist that face?

      • 03/28/2012 at 8:09 pm

I think I need to start training Romeo to wipe his paws and belly off. And I can’t resist that face … that is my whole problem!

    17. 03/28/2012 at 3:36 pm

You are SOOO sunny, Mrs. J – made me chuckle aloud. We don’t have carpets – just (dark) wood floors. Mud season in any case – aarrgghh!

      • 03/28/2012 at 8:08 pm

Dark wood floors sounds perfect to me!

      03/28/2012 at 12:50 pm

Awww, so cute! Romeo looks like he knows he might have upset mommy, look at that expression on his face! He looks like he ate a mud pie!

I have some cats who roll in dirt and if there’s mud nearby, Oh well!

If you have the carpet cleaning machin to clean the carpet, what do you have to clean Romeo?!

      • 03/28/2012 at 8:08 pm

We have a bathtub to clean Romeo … but I’m thinking that I’m going to need a little pan with water in it for him to rinse his feet and belly before he comes in the house.

    19. 03/28/2012 at 12:50 pm

Lol. Gotta love that look though. Awwww, come on mommy. I didn’t do anything. I’m having the same problem here. We got back from our walk this morning and Sam tracked muddy prints through the kitchen and since he’s so heavy I can’t just lift him in and out of the tub. Uggggggh. Buddy was much prissier than Sam – he sees mud or a puddle and heads for it. Buddy would never. Lol.

      • 03/28/2012 at 8:07 pm

When we go through a few days of rain and the mud gets really bad, I feel like I’m hosing Romeo off in the tub every single day! It is a pain. I might need to build him some elevated pathways! HAHA! He’s never met a mud puddle or patch he didn’t love.

    20. 03/28/2012 at 11:45 am

      Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh!

    21. 03/28/2012 at 11:15 am

So cute! We had to replace our carpet when Goldie chewed a big hole in it when she was a puppy. Now we have wood floors.

      • 03/28/2012 at 8:06 pm

Yeah … I’m seeing that perhaps wood floor people benefit quite a bit when homeowners get a dog!

Does he dig with his face? Just wondering.

I am about to get rid of our carpet. At least downstairs. The entire family room and kitchen is stone tile and the living area and dining room (why) is carpet. The Otter Pup has been having accidents lately so our carpet cleaner is in high demand right now. I really want to put hardwood in but we just can’t afford it right now. I may just stain the concrete. Can look nice if done right.

      • 03/28/2012 at 8:05 pm

Yup .. he digs with his face. He kind of uses his nose like a shovel. It is cute but very very messy.
Dogs are difficult on rugs, aren’t they? We’re considering putting in hardwood or laminate in the room he uses to go in and out — the money I save in buying cleaning solution for the carpet cleaner might pay for it!

And stained concrete? Never heard of it . Sounds hard and cold though! Nice area rugs would be a must!

    23. 03/28/2012 at 10:28 am

Oh, what a face! You could never get made at him even though he looks like he’s all boy!

      • 03/28/2012 at 8:04 pm

I know!! That face is pretty irresistible. And he is so into his digging .. just like a human boy.

    24. 03/28/2012 at 9:54 am

Oh boy, it looks like he might have been snacking on a mud pie, and I can imagine that him tracking all that dirt onto your white carpet (!) would give you a heart attack! My pup loves to roll in the dirt and leaves, but usually it is dry dirt, and we can just brush her off. She has done the mud thing, but since we have tile floors, it’s not so bad.

      • 03/28/2012 at 8:03 pm

The lady who owned the house before us had light cream carpeting in every single room. It is slowly beginning to show its wear … mostly since Romeo arrived. We might have to switch to hardwood or laminate in the main room he uses to go in and out. It is getting ridiculous. I need to introduce Romeo to the concept of “dry” dirt!

    25. 03/28/2012 at 9:24 am

What a messy doggy! But I need a machine like that just from having a husband!

      • 03/28/2012 at 8:02 pm

Originally I got it because of the kid but it never got as much use until Romeo arrived.

    26. 03/28/2012 at 8:53 am

But he is totally worth it! Look at that face, I bet you have a tough time ever being angry with him

      • 03/28/2012 at 8:02 pm

You got it!! Even his little muddy paw prints are cute and make me melt.

    27. 03/28/2012 at 8:05 am

      Oh no!
I feel your pain hun. That is why we no longer have carpet!

      • 03/28/2012 at 8:02 pm

We are contemplating replacing the room that everyone (well, Romeo) enters from outside with some hardwood or laminate. It will just make life easier I think!

    28. 03/28/2012 at 7:40 am

Hah! Cats don’t do that! lol

    29. 03/28/2012 at 6:52 am

Just how could you possibly get mad at him though?? LOL

      • 03/28/2012 at 8:00 pm

I know!! That face saves him every time. Even his trail of little muddy paw prints on the carpet was cute.

    30. 03/28/2012 at 6:25 am

I love the facial expressions on this dog. Like he is a dog who knows his mind. And he is comfortable with his station as the alpha. Ha! Our Lab always loved to roll in mud, but she was also a swimmer so you could entice her to jump in a lake or a pool to clean herself off. She also loved the beach…she would EAT the sand, try digging to China, and bob around in the waves. *sigh* I have dog sadness.

      • 03/28/2012 at 7:59 pm

I’m sorry you have dog sadness. Just look at your clean carpets and perhaps it will fade a little bit. And Romeo is developing into a dog that knows his own mind … and he knows he likes mud!! : )

    31. 03/28/2012 at 5:49 am

He looks quite clean to me! Look at all that lovely fluffy white fur on his chest. My dog is a massive fan of digging in mud, but she hates swimming in water and so comes back from a walk covered in mud. We didn’t have a carpet cleaner, but we do now! I can beat you in a muddiest dog competition any day!

      • 03/28/2012 at 7:59 pm

I’m sure you could beat us in a muddiest dog competition … just the sheer acreage of your dog’s paw prints to my dog’s pawprints is no contest!! Sometimes it looks like he has little mud boots on. Cute … until he walks inside. I’ve been using the steam cleaner more than I ever have before … and we’re contemplating getting a hard floor for the entrance from the back yard!
