Status Updates

- I have officially changed my celebrity crush from Robert Pattinson to Channing Tatum. (By the way, if you haven’t seen Magic Mike yet, you must. Perfect girl’s night out movie. I went with a friend this past Wednesday night and it was PACKED with ladies.)
- I had a hair coloring mishap. Attempt 1 ended in black hair (yet I managed to not dye my “sideburns”). I looked like I was wearing a really bad toupee. So then I got hair coloring removal stuff that gave me orange clown hair. One more box of “Golden Brown” ended up giving me reddish brown hair (emphasis on the reddish), which I’m stuck with since my scalp feels like it is on fire from so many chemicals.
- I have weaseled my way into a 11-year-old girl’s birthday party so I can go see the Katy Perry movie, which I am ridiculously excited for after seeing a preview.
- Andrew Garfield makes a much much better Spiderman than that dolt Tobey Maguire. This reboot of the Spiderman franchise was much better than the previous one. And the villain, The Lizard, “is the coolest one ever” (per the two 7-year-old boys I saw it with this afternoon).
- My blogging has gone down the toilet this summer so I’m giving up responding to comments as I just can’t find enough time and I think it is more important to visit your blogs than to respond with my witty repartee. I do, however, read all that you tell me and will respond if there is a specific question or you send me money and/or books.
- Entertainment Weekly said Matthew Quirk’s The 500 was reminiscent and almost on par with John Grisham’s The Firm. This made me buy it. However, I was way disappointed. The Firm was 100% better.
- Almost 95% of my Facebook updates are done by Mr. Jenners, who “tags” me in at places with accompanying unattractive photos without my knowledge. It is amazing that we are still married.

As always you are making me smile with your post. And all I can say about Channing Tatum is “Yes, please!”
I tried to convince Jason to see Magic Mike, but we saw Ted instead. Obviously, he is still enjoying his March Madness win. Thanks for the eye candy
Well, I can see that he wouldn’t go to see Magic Mike. I think there was only one guy in the whole theatre when I went so I can’t fault him too much. I kind of want to see Ted too.
Just make sure you have a drink (with alcohol) before you go. It will help.
That tends to help most situations.
I’m so with you on Andrew Garfield. He was the perfect spiderman!
He really was a better fit for the role. And he had a personality!
He is just too pretty.
Well, if he isn’t your taste, then I shall keep him.
I loved the new Spiderman!! I like both guys as spiderman but think I did like this guy better too. I totally want to see the Katy Perry movie too– but no there is no way my husband will see it.
It turns out we’re going to see the Katy Perry movie in 3-D — that should be something. I suppose the 3D will come from her shooting stuff out of her bra or something!
Love me some Channing… My husband acted like a little rain made him melt yesterday. I too am surprised I remain married
It is a mystery, isn’t it? : )
Channing is a hottie, but I still prefer my old standby Johnny Depp. There is actually a very funny story that Sandy, Kathy and Swapna can tell you about how I harassed a book rep at SIBA last year into giving me a book all about him, and then I spent the rest of the weekend with the book tucked in my purse. I am a huge nerd, as you can tell, but I will not hone in on Channing and take him away from you. Maybe we can all get together for a date sometime.
I’m so glad you won’t steal Channing from me! And did you see 21 Jump Street (the reboot)? Channing is in it … and so is Johnny. It is really funny (if you don’t mind some foul language).
LOL!!!! You never cease at making me laugh!!!
Completely agree with you on the Spiderman front, by the way. I did not go into the movie with high expectations, so I left feeling VERY impressed!!
I know! It was much better than the previous set of movies. I’d actually look forward to seeing the rest of these.
I think Channing is adorable but my eyes would be looking for Matthew!!
Sorry about your hair. Have you tried this before with success? As costly as it is to get someone to do my hair, I happily pay it because I do not look good in orange.
Well, I have to tell you, Matthew’s body is amazing but he just doesn’t do it for me. And his character is such a sleazeball that it made me like him even less. He seemed oily (literally and figuratively).
And I should write down the hair color number that works for me … I never do and then I don’t remember what to get and then this happens.
STAY AWAY FROM MY BOYFRIEND CHANNING!!!!!!!!!!!!
Are you throwing down? I thought you were in love with John Mayer so I GET CHANNING!! BACK OFF!
STAY AWAY FROM MY BOYFRIEND CHANNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Obviously I’m the oldest one here since the only actor’s name I even recognize from this post is Toby McGwire :/
Now I need some of Sandy’s wine :p
I can’t color my own hair since I’m allergic to a lot of hair coloring products…and yes, I found out the hard way
More wine pls
Thanks for the eye candy!
And sorry about your dyed mishap!
Oh well, at least your hair didn’t turn green as recently happened to a friend of mine.
My grandmother once lost ALL her hair when she was getting stuff done at a beauty parlor and plane crashed nearby and it ended up frying all her hair off. I’d take a weird color over that any day.
I want to go to movies with you.
It would be so awesome to have a book blogger girl’s night out to go see Magic Mike!
I haven’t seen Magic Mike yet either. I’m trying to talk my sister in to doing it. I too have had many hair mishaps. I figure in a few weeks it will be o.k. Wear a hat. I agree about Toby , he spoiled Spiderman for me.
Tobey Maguire was so boring as Spiderman … Andrew Garfield is a bazillion times better.
Hehe I love these status updates! I agree about Channing Tatum.. I have not yet seen Magic Mike! I’m crazy, right!! I need to see it for sure. I agree about Andrew Garfield. I love that comment about your husband and Facebook, hehe.
GO GO GO see Magic Mike!!!
You are great, Jenners! You always manage to lighten my mood with your sense of humor–thanks! I’ve been on a bit of a blogging break this summer, but will return “in earnest” soon, I hope!
I myself have had many instances of what I call “popsicle hair” which corresponds to various shades of popsicles depending on how it comes out.
Glad to see you exchanged a vampire for a stripper. hmmmm
Someday I’ll work my way up to a regular type of guy … the type you could take home to mom and dad.
Me three on the hair. This sounds just like what happened to my niece. She got the orange clown hair thing going and was totally appalled at what she had to do to get it back to “normal”
It hurts your head so bad.
and no photos of the “hair mishaps”? disappointed in you, you are slipping…LOL Kidding
I was in such a frenzy that we didn’t document it.
I’m with Kaye. There has to be pictures of the hair. I know you took them. It’s like 1:30 in the morning here so I’m sure that it’s funnier right now than it would be at a more reasonable time but the idea of you with a black toupee, morphing into bright orange hair is so incredibly hilarious.
There is only one photo and it doesn’t do the toupee look justice. It was a bad moment and I didn’t document it.
I really need to update my celebrity crushes – they are from 10-20 years ago (young Patrick Stewart and Ewan McGregor).
Ugh, hair coloring is such a pain! I’ve been experimenting with it (notice my reddish hair) and found out that I have lots of red tones in my hair I didn’t know about. So if I lighten my hair at all (especially with anything that has the word “golden” in it) it turns red. I’ve read that using colors with “ash” and “cool” on the label cancels out the red. I wish you the best of luck! Only a couple more weeks until I get to test out the theory.
I totally want to see the Katy Perry movie. I’d love to hear what you think of it.
THANK YOU for the tip!! I will stick to “ash” and “cool” from now on as I have “hidden red” in my hair too.
I want to see the hair
Yeah yeah yeah … but I swear we only took one photo and you can’t really tell just how bad it was.
That movie is high on my list, right behind “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter”.
Sorry to hear about your hair adventure, I hope you manage to get the color you want.
I’m glad someone else thinks Tobey Maquire is a dolt. I was beginning to feel lonely on that front.
I suspect we have company out there. He was so blah as Spiderman.
OK girl, I was going to e-mail you but on vacation here my outgoing e-mail isn’t working. So. I am on a girls’ weekend with my high school friends and tomorrow we are going to see Magic Mike. We will dance. We will make lewd noises. We will grab ourselves. I’m not sure which character I will obsess over, but I’m think Matthew. Cause he is sorta old and hot. Therefore achievable. Sorta. Now I’m going back to my wine.
Perfect movie choice! I wish I could watch you all in the theater!! Matthew looks amazing for being 42 … but he seems so icky and slimy. My heart is with Channing!
I’d actually like to see Magic Mike (and I’ll be totally honest and say it’s not for the acting), but I need someone to go see it with me!
It is such a girl’s night out movie … find a girl and go!
I could watch Channing Tatum dance all the live long day….
Channing Tatum is definitely some fine eye candy. I’m going to check out your Facebook updates now.
I’m actually talking about my personal Facebook page — not my blog one. Sorry to disappoint!
Yeah, I went on and couldn’t find it. Oh well.
