Giveaway Winners … And Frankenstorm
by Jenners • 10/26/2012 • Giveaway • 32 Comments
The winners of my recent giveaway (and it wasn’t any of you, spammers … I will not be buying any Cheap UGG Boots despite your repeated entries) are:
- Kim at The Ratio of Failures won The Taker
- Care at Care’s Online Book Club won The Marriage Plot
I have your addresses and your books will be in the mail next week … unless of course FRANKENSTORM arrives and is as monstrous as they say and I am in a communications blackout for a week or so. So, Sandy, if you have any pull with the hurricane of your namesake, please tell it to calm down a little.
Here’s hoping I’ll be posting as regular and not spending all my time bailing water out of kitchen.

Hope you are safe and okay!!
We made it through just fine … we were super lucky.
Hope you weathered the storm and are safe and dry. It was wild night here in the city but I am fortunate to now have power.
I’m hoping that you made it through OK. I know it got very bad up there.
Hope you and your family are safe and sound after the big storm!
We made it through unscathed, for which we are very grateful.
Love your graphic! Hope you are safe from the storm.
They stopped calling it Frankenstorm … though it did destroy Halloween trick-or-treating.
My Rainman is, in fact a “rainman” or weatherman. He says it does look like it is going to be pretty bad….unless your Sandy has more information than him!
Oh I didn’t know that! His name is quite fitting. It was pretty bad but fortunately not for us. I’d love his explanation of how it could have made landfall just 60 miles from us but left our area basically untouched. We were guessing that we were right in the “eye” and so didn’t get as much storm.
Okay, Rainman wants to know if you were south of landfall? If so, the wind you got was off the land not off the water…so you wouldn’t get a storm surge…. Did that make sense? He gave me a much more detailed explanation with lots of arm and hand movements….but I think I simplified his answer in “real people” terms! Now he wants to see if he was correct….so private message me where you lived….he wants to pat himself on the back. Here is a picture of the back of his head in the New York Times….https://www.nytsyn.com/images/photos?keyword=Cancelations#860434
I sent you an e-mail with top-secret location! HAHA! How neat that he was featured in the New York Times. That doesn’t happen often.
Been in the path of the storm too many times to count. Hoping Sandy Weakens or spins herself out before any damage (the storm, not our beloved blogger Sandy)
I keep imagining our beloved blogger Sandy whenever they talk about the storm!! Makes for some weird mental images.
Keep safe!
We’ll do our best. It is the people on the coast that I’m most worried about!
Well, for what it is worth, Sandy didn’t do much to us down here but blow all the dead leaves and palm fronds off the trees, and rain on the one morning I wanted to do my long run. So apparently she could care less what I think! But I will put in a word. I would hate it if a storm in my name caused anyone pain or inconvenience!!! (Stock up on wine would be my advice.)
I just keep imagining you whirling around out there getting all angry. I hope you take mercy on us!
Good luck with the storm! I’m looking at Care of Wooden Floors with interest… can’t wait to hear what you think of it.
I just finished Care of Wooden Floors yesterday and quite enjoyed. A snarky little tale of a housesitting gig that goes horribly wrong. Wasn’t thrilled with the ending but it didn’t really matter. A fun little read.
Stay safe,Tootsie!
We’ve got our water, peanut butter and bread and my Kindle Paperwhite is fully charged so I’m ready!!
Congrats to your lucky winners! I hope Frankenstorm is a gentler storm than expected!!
Me too! They always hype the heck out of these storms and then it isn’t nearly as bad. WE’ll see … I’ll be happy to be “disappointed.”
I hope Frankenstorm stays away. And how ironic that about this same time last year we were battling a snow storm.
Congrats to the winners
I know. This time of year is turning out quite strange, isn’t it?
Congrats, winners!
Hope Sandy doesn’t get ya too bad, Jenners! Stay safe!
I hope so too. She arrives tonight so we’ll see what she has.
Woohoo! Thanks so much, Jenners! Congratulations also to Care.
Batten down the hatches and have your emergency supplies ready – and charge up that Kindle, just in case Hurricane Sandy causes power outages.
Got the Kindle charged up, our peanut butter, bread and water so I think we’re ready to go.
I hope Sandy sees this and get that storm under control. Congratulations to the winners!
She said she’s putting in a good word so I’m optimistic.
